"I Couldn't Get Enough of the Sound" - A Customer's Hitchcox Motorcyles Exhaust Story
Triumph Scrambler 1200XE shares his experience with Hitchcox Motorcycles
There's a particular moment every Triumph owner chases: the first ride after fitting a new aftermarket exhaust, when the bike finally sounds the way it always should have.
For one Hitchcox Motorcycles customer, that moment turned a quick test ride into an evening spent riding around simply to keep listening.
Why Choose a Hitchcox Exhaust for a Triumph?
For many riders considering an aftermarket exhaust, the decision comes down to more than just volume. It's about whether the upgrade actually suits the bike, visually, mechanically, and acoustically.
Why did you decide to customise your bike with a Hitchcox Motorcycles exhaust?
"For me, it came down to three things: quality, looks, and most importantly, the sound. I wanted an exhaust that would bring out more of the bike's character without taking away from its classic style. Hitchcox Motorcycles ticked all of those boxes. The quality is immediately noticeable, the shotgun-style design suits the bike perfectly, and the sound gives it so much more personality."
It's a theme we hear often from our customers: the goal isn't to make a bike loud for the sake of it, but to let it sound like the machine it was engineered to be.

What Makes This Triumph Special
Every Triumph build has its own personality, shaped by the rider as much as the bike itself.
What's your favourite thing about your bike?
"It's difficult to choose just one thing! I love the character and sound of the Scrambler 1200XE engine, combined with the classic Triumph styling and modern features. Then there's the off-road capability, which gives me the freedom to leave the tarmac behind and explore when the opportunity comes up. It's a bike that looks timeless but is incredibly versatile to ride."
That versatility, timeless looks paired with genuine off-road capability is exactly why so many riders choose the Scrambler 1200 XE in the first place, and why getting the exhaust right matters so much.
The Real Impact of an Aftermarket Exhaust
Fitting a new exhaust system is one of the most transformative upgrades a Triumph owner can make. But does it live up to the hype?
How has your Hitchcox exhaust changed your ride?
"It genuinely released another side of the bike's character. The sound has much more depth and personality now, and every time I'm on the bike, I find myself opening the throttle just a little more simply to hear it. What I particularly like is that the sound is just right, even with the baffles fitted. It has a deep, distinctive tone without being excessive, and it makes the whole riding experience feel that little bit more special."
That balanced, noticeable, characterful sound without tipping into excess is exactly the "Goldilocks spot" Hitchcox Motorcycles exhausts are engineered to hit, even with baffles in place.
A Memorable First Ride
Sometimes the best stories come from the smallest moments like the first time you hear your bike with its new exhaust fitted.
Can you share a memorable experience you've had while riding your bike with the new Hitchcox exhaust? What made it stand out?
"One of my favourite memories was actually the day I fitted it. The installation was incredibly straightforward, I managed to fit the exhaust myself in around 30 minutes or less. As soon as it was on, there was only one thing left to do: go for a ride. What was supposed to be a quick test ride turned into me riding around until late in the evening because I simply couldn't get enough of the sound. That first ride really stood out to me because it completely changed the personality of the bike. Even now, every mile feels that little bit more enjoyable with the Hitchcox Motorcycles exhaust."
An easy, self-fit installation followed by hours of unplanned riding is a story we hear more often than you'd think and it's one of the reasons Hitchcox Motorcycles exhausts have built such a loyal following among Triumph owners.
What Sets Hitchcox Motorcycles Apart
With so many aftermarket exhaust brands to choose from, we asked what actually made Hitchcox Motorcycles stand out from the crowd.
What stood out to you about Hitchcox Motorcycles?
"Definitely the shotgun-style design first, it immediately caught my attention. But once you look closer, it's the combination of design, build quality, materials and sound that really stands out. It feels like a product that has been designed by people who genuinely understand motorcycles and care about how an exhaust should look, feel and sound as part of the overall character of the bike."
That attention to detail comes from Hitchcox Motorycles engineering-led approach, every exhaust is handcrafted in our Brackley workshop, built specifically for Triumph motorcycles, and designed to sound "right" rather than simply loud.
What's Next
What modifications do you have planned for the future?
"I already have another Scrambler 900 build on my list, and when that project happens, I'll definitely be going with Hitchcox again. After my experience with this exhaust, choosing Hitchcox for the next build feels like an easy decision."
